Pitch for Music video Plus Feedback

During our presentation of this pitch we got a lot of feedback on our ideas and the changes that could make to our music video.

Some useful Feedback we recieved include, looking back at our case studies and other similar genred music videos and see how we can use ideas from them aswell as our own to combine and make the music video. for example, when there is a fast beat we can use multiple scenes with fat cut throughs.

We reviewed the song lyrics and they were inappropriate, and we have chosen to replaced it with this new song below. The new song we have chosen is not very different to the previous one as instead of being about expressing her feelings about getting together its about her saying they should stay away.

The Infinite Mix Trip

The Infinite Mix is an expedition which brings together audiovisual artwork, combination of music and video. During the exhibition there was a variety of creations based on different things and illustrated in a mixture of ways.

The exhibition was presented in an unconventional and unique way, we had to move around in a maze like building into pitch black dark rooms with different methods of showcases of videos, for example displays in all directions, wide, and 3D.

Say It by Flume lyrics

Feeling the song, party done
Shadows walking home
Walking with our game on
You are my kind, classic mind
And you look so fine
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Loving the cold, smoke a roll
See your fingers shake
I'm getting through your heart break
Some kinda freak, sing for me
Don't know what I need
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Don't doubt me babe
You make me wanna change
Break my bed to make me wanna stay
I can't...
Bite me babe
You make me love the pain
Break my bed to make me wanna stay
I can't...
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Got me falling right back
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Let me fuck you right back
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
I'm getting the door, silent walk
Whose the first to speak?
Speak it like a real freak
Voice in my head, in my bed
Filled with you instead
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Taking your time, work my mind
And I play with you
I play pretend it's so true
Follow me down
Listen 'round to the deep dark sound
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Don't doubt me babe
You make me wanna change
Break my bed to make me wanna stay
I can't...
Bite me babe
You make me love the pain
Break my bed to make me wanna stay
I can't...
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Got me falling right back
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Let me fuck you right back
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Don't doubt me babe
You make me wanna change
Break my bed to make me wanna stay
I can't...
Bite me babe
You make me love the pain
Break my bed to make me wanna stay
I can't...
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Got me falling right back
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
When you say it like that
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Let me fuck you right back
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Silentó - Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)

The Music video begins with montages of groups of people dancing to the musics rhythm, with multiple new sections added with every second beat, this continues until the screen is filled with hundreds of people dancing to the same music which creates a sense of belonging to the audience as the people dancing are both male and female with varying ages and ethnicity. As the screen is filled up, computer generated affects combine the montages to create the rappers name "Silento".

Soon after the frame is faded to a worms eye view of Silento bouncing a basket ball at the screen then fading back and forth between him and the background performers. Whilst the camera is showing him it is panning to the right along with him as he dances, similarly as the camera turns to the background people the camera continues to pan. The movement creates a scene like Silento asking a question and the background people answering, the background people may be illustrating the  actual audience that is watching, being invited to sing and dance along with him.

The rest of the music video continues with the back and forth montages between groups of people dancing and the artist, this is suitable for this kind of music because its a dance/sing along and the audience would rather listen and dance than need to pay attention to other things happening in the scenes.

Throughout the music video, lip sync is used and multiple camera angles like pan, zoom, low angle and worms eye with most of them being medium and close ups, aswell as a few far and wide to show the bigger groups.

Wiz Khalifa - See You Again ft. Charlie Puth

The video begins with a shot of a clifftop at sunset using high angle, followed by Khalifa walking down a highway road with camera looking up at then slowly lifting up to a high angle shot; Puth is then shown singing the chorus whilst sitting at, and playing, a piano located between two cars, at this point the camera is panning around him showing him in the foreground whilst also showing the background scenery.

The camera soon cuts to multiple footages from the movie fast and furious. The editing and shot techniques used during this part include, panning, timelapse, high angle, zoom, wide and far angle.

As soon as Wiz Khalifa begins rapping, montages of multiples scenes from the movie show again but this time close ups and medium shots showing more of the actors than the landscape. Within those montages are also cuts of Wiz Khlifa rapping with medium shots again in the sunset. Another transisition other than cut used is fade as he talks about death, this shows how he people slowly just disappear and creates a feeling for the audience.

The song ends with a birds eye view of two cars racing down a single road the switching paths whitch signify how Paul has passed on, the camera then pans up into the sky and slowly fades out indicating the death of the actor.

I can borrow similar techniques and styles used in this music video in my own, for example panning around the singer and location shots as it prevents the video from looking boring from stills. The lighting used are all natural which I also will be using outdoors, however due to being near a winter season where there is going to be less sunshine and more dark, we may need to use atifictal lighting.

Case Study Ariana Grande - Problem

This is a music video performed and sung by Ariana Grande with Iggy Azalea, it is being mainly focused as a dance based performance trying to express on how now the couple feel better after leaving each other, this is further shown as the lyrics continue to say "one less problem without you".

During the whole music video, a lot of fast cutting is used as it is now the most common form of editing, this matches the fast paced music rhythm throughout the video to create a sense of excitement.

During some parts of the video, there has been use of computer generated graphics mostly whilst Iggy was onscreen.

Other animation transitions have also been used such as wipe to fit in with the dance performances.

There is use of superimposition with Ariana and Iggy as they are put together in the same shot which they weren't when the actual shots took place.

There are also multiple camera angles used such as close up, medium, wide angle, zoom and birds eye view.

Charlie Puth - We Don't Talk Anymore (feat. Selena Gomez)

The whole music video is about the daily life of two people showed side by side, although they live in different places they have a very similar lifestyle. The style of this music video is very unique as it shows two scenes happening at the same time, this is done with a separation line in the centre with the mans video on the left and the women's on the right. The video begins with a long shot view of the cityscape using a handheld camera on both sides, on the left is an urban city whereas on the right is a town, this illustrates the different living styles and cultures of the two different people through the locations.

Throughout the music video there is a constant use of the split view and handheld footage's, this makes the audience feel as though they are following the actors therefore they story that unfolds. this is a very creative technique the producers have created, in my music I can use a similar technique in a section of the video where There will be the actor in two different clips put together with a split to give a mirror like affect to portray her loneliness.
